The top mushers have finished the 2014 Iditarod race. As of now 18 mushers have finished and Aliy Zirkle finished in 2nd place, 2 minutes behind the leader Dalla Seavey.  It was quite close for Aliy having finished in second three times in row now. Aliy's over all time was 8d, 13h, 6m and 41s. She finished with 10 dogs out of her original 16 and her average speed over the whole race was 4.7 mph. Hopefully with some last fine tuning, Aliy will be able to pull a champion status out of the 2015 Iditarod race.

In the current 2014 Iditarod race Aliy Zirkle is in 2nd place behind Jeff King and Dallas Seavey behind her.  n the 9th day of the Iditarod hopefully Aliy can pull ahead of King, they have both taken their required breaks and nothing is holding them back with an all out sprint race to see who will become the Iditarod champion. Aliy entered checkpoint White Mountain with a time of 7 hours 59 minutes, only 57 minutes behind Jeff King and unfortunately one less dog than King who has 12.
It seems that it will turn out to be a race between the two of them, as they have outpaced their closest competitors. The White Mountain checkpoint is only 77 miles from Nome the finish line of the 1,000 mile Iditarod. 

Aily Zirkle is currently in 1st place as of March 7th in the 2014 Iditarod. She has Martin Buser right on her tail only 12 hours behind and Buser has one more dog than her with 15 and just took his eight hour brake. Aliy has a time of 3/6 days 6 hours and 10 minutes and currently on her way to the Galena checkpoint. The Ruby to Galena is a roughly easy trail but you have to get your dogs across the Yukon. Hopefully over the weekend she can continue her streak.

Today and yesterday Aliy Zirkle has fallen behind to 9th place in the Iditarod, the great Alaskan dog race. She is currently going to the Takotna check point with a time of 4 days 19 hours 6 min.. Aliy is behind Ramey Smyth and Joar Leifseth Ulsom, she has not used her 24 and 8 hour breaks and has 15 of her dogs left in the race after one of her 16 original dogs dropped. The McGrath to Takotna covers about 8 miles of open swamp, muskeg and scattered trees. The rest of the 17 miles you go through a tree line, a river, and the trail is slow going because of fast snow machines cause ruts and moguls.
